I thought I would have run yesterday since it was Memorial Day and my husband was off from work...but I didn't. Today was a nice family run, 3.2 miles that we started together but I finished up alone so my son could have play time. I'm feeling pretty sluggish and slow and I am not even 4 months into this pregnancy (*sigh*)

Insomnia
Insomnia hit me again this morning, around 5am...so I took the baby (he/she had no choice of course) out for a 4.2M run this morning at 5:30am. The park was virtually deserted, a scene I'm never exposed to since I am not, in any way shape or form, a morning person. The weather was nice out, cool with a light breeze. I had the park to myself, at least for the first half, and was home by 6:30am. A great start to Memorial Day weekend...

Before Soccer
Every Thursday morning my son has his soccer class in the park at 10am...this morning I got my act together and was out in the park running at 9:15am. I ran 3.2M and rolled into this class 5 minutes early. Whew!

Getting There
My husband had a half marathon race this morning...unfortunately our son and I were not able to join him since it started at 7am and was all the way out in Brooklyn. How could I not feel the urge to get a run in when my better half hammered out a 1:20 half?? So, this afternoon I went out for a 3.2M run...still feeling slow, but better and better about logging the miles. It will probably take me a few weeks to work back up to 20 miles per week.

2 AM
I have had quite a bit of insomnia with this pregnancy, unable to fall back to sleep if I wake during the night. This morning was exceptional in that I woke at 2am and could not get back to sleep. So. I got up and started working, knocked out 3 hours of work, went through the morning routine with my son, then headed out for a run with him. Logged 2.8 miles and headed back in to accomplish the rest of the day. By 2pm I was dead, but I got a run in and got all of my work accomplished for the day. I am starting to feel more comfortable running the more I do it...not feeling myself by any means, but at least not so paranoid.

Relief
We had our genetic screening and ultrasound at the hospital this morning. We were able to breath a deep sigh of relief that everything is progressing beautifully with the baby. My husband took th day off from work to go to the appointment, and then to attend our son's soccer class and spend the day with us. We went on a family run (2M) and stopped along the way for our son to play. I didn't rack up a lot of mileage, but it was a great family day :)

Run for Japan
I am a little disheartened that today's race was run as a virtual one...basically the race filled up, but the NY road runners allowed members to sign up for this race and run it on their own time as long as they logged a time for it. All for a good cause of course, Japan relief.
So, the hubs and I headed out to the park this afternoon to run 4M. I haven't actually run since I was cleared to because I am feeling some level of trepidation about running with the health problems I have had so far. Today was the perfect excuse to get out there and do it. My doctor said to just listen to my body as I started running again, so I was able to run over 3 miles of the race. I started feeling a little woozy towards the end, so I walked the remainder.
Race number two for 9+1 and race number 2 for pregnancy number two: check.
